Store Review

Insight's international store visit programmes are very valuable for retailers looking for new ideas. Our objective store review process then helps clients take an objective look at their own businesses and benchmark against global best practice.

Insight review a sample of a client's stores in the context of both international and local best practice, industry trends and innovations. We do this in an objective way, with no context of a "how a client views their stores", or current performance.

We then report back, giving the client a virtual tour of the sites we have visited, objectively assessed by our expert store review team. This structured proprietary review process gives clients a clear perspective on their own businesses by stripping away the perceptions built up in daily operations also known as "store blindness". It is an established formula which has proven very helpful for our clients, giving them a reality check in terms of their market position and operational effectiveness, together with an objective assessment of how well positioned they are for the future.

In the review we consider a client's market position, taking into account branding, store design and layout, product category and range choices and assess how these elements come together to form the overall impression which determines both the strength of the retail offer and market position.

The review equally comments on the operational execution of these elements and is designed to be constructively critical and can, in some cases, be quite blunt. After all, the yardstick of the review is international best practice.

Following our virtual store tour and review against international best practice presentations, Insight then present structured conclusions with suggestions and recommendations and facilitate an in-depth discussion about the conclusions of the review process.

Green Review

Building on the international research work carried out by Insight for the NACS Green Toolkit, Insight has also supported The Murphy Group LLC (TMG) [link to murphygroupllc.com] in the creation of focused green "review" solution for fuels, food retailers and travel centres.

Murphy Group and Insight review a client's facilities and practices to complete a trademarked green assessment of legacy and newer facilities. We evaluate equipment, energy efficiency, HVAC, lighting, waste reduction & water efficiency completing a detailed report with observations and recommendations. We then assist with a prioritised action plan, advise best practice for new builds and optimising ROI. Retailers like Rutters in York PA, USA participated in Insight's NACS Green Toolkit research and have found the green review very useful.

TMG is a good alternative for medium to small size retailers who would like to infuse expertise into their knowledge bank in order to take advantage of energy efficiency and other sustainability opportunities especially during this economic downturn when taking cost out of operations is essential.
